Ultherapy is a non-surgical procedure that lifts and tightens sagging skin around the forehead, face and neck. At Roseville Facial Plastic Surgery, we have an exclusive Ultherapist who has more than 25 years of ultrasound experience. She performs this procedure with great skill. With that level of experience, you are assured an optimal result.
Ultherapy is not a laser treatment or a radiofrequency procedure like Thermage. Instead, it works by using ultrasound energy to heat the deep layers of the skin, while leaving the top layers of skin cool. For this reason, the visible skin suffers few if any, side effects, and minimal to no recovery time is required.
We will spend time with you in consultation, examining you and asking questions about your medical history. Ultherapy is not right for everyone. For example, if you have very loose skin on your face and/or neck, a surgical facelift or neck lift might be the best choice for you. If you only have excess fat under the chin, injectable Kybella® may be sufficient. We will provide our recommendation during your consultation and answer any questions you have.
We have been providing Ultherapy in the Northern California area for 4 years.
Our top notch Ultherapist has been chosen to participant in research, helping Ulthera to test new tools and techniques. This ensures that you are getting the highest quality treatment with the latest technology!
What can be accomplished by Ultherapy?
While a facelift or neck lift will provide the most dramatic results, Ultherapy is a great option for people with less significant signs of aging or those who prefer to avoid surgery. It provides a generally tighter appearance of the face and neck, including around the jawline where the skin begins to sag or above the eyebrows where the eyelids begin to droop.

How does Roseville Facial Plastic Surgery Approach Ultherapy?
Using our knowledge of the anatomy of the face and our practitioner’s extensive experience with Ultherapy technology, we are able to evaluate each patient individually to determine the best way to use this innovative treatment.
One of the advantages of Ultherapy is that it promotes natural collagen production in the skin. It is a very precise treatment, allowing our practitioner to see below the surface of the skin, much like ultrasound devices are used to see a fetus. Our Ultherapist can then choose to treat the proper tissue depth for an optimal outcome.Dr. David J. Kiener, M.D.
To assure your comfort, we advise you to take non-prescription pain medication prior to your procedure. We may also apply a topical anesthetic about one hour before the treatment. The actual treatment itself takes anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the areas to be treated, as the handheld device is passed over the skin.
As your body produces more collagen, you will begin to see visible results within three months up to six months. In general, results can last 18-36 months in most patients. Some patients choose to have this procedure repeated as aging continues.
What is Recovery Like After Ultherapy?
Some patients experience slight bruising and swelling after Ultherapy, but these symptoms last only a few days. There is minimal, if any, recovery period required after Ultherapy, so you can resume any activities you like immediately after treatment.
