The SkinPen® by Bellus Medical is an automated, state-of-the-art microneedling device specifically engineered for medical professionals and is currently the only FDA-approved microneedling device. Here’s how it works: As the SkinPen® is passed over your skin, its needles cycle at over 100 stamps per second. This creates hundreds of microscopic channels in the skin called “microinjuries.” As these tiny injuries heal, the skin gets a boost in new collagen and elastin – the building blocks of supple, healthy skin. As a result, fine lines are filled in, skin texture becomes smoother, scars are diminished, and discoloration fades. The skin will continue to repair itself in the weeks that follow your treatment. This is particularly effective when paired with PRP (platelet rich plasma) treatment. The microscopic injuries created by SkinPen® allow the PRP serum to penetrate deeply into the tissue, where it can provide the most benefit for skin health, firmness, and overall appearance.

The HydraFacial MD® is a non-invasive, multi-step treatment that provides immediate results and long-term benefits without pain, irritation or downtime. HydraFacial MD® combines the benefits of hydradermabrasion exfoliation, a chemical peel, automated painless extractions, and a special delivery of antioxidants, hyaluronic acid peptide-rich serums, into one quick treatment that delivers real results. The HydraFacial MD® is appropriate for all skin types and targets sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, dehydration and oily/congested skin. Great for all skin types, the HydraFacial MD® Treatment is not only highly effective at improving overall skin health, but also excellent for remedying fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, elasticity & firmness and much more. The HydraFacial MD® combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration all while delivering antioxidants, Hyaluronic Acid, peptides and other essential nutrients.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels aim to accelerate skin exfoliation resulting in renewed, healthier looking skin and more uninformed complexion. Peels address the visible imperfections that result from skin aging and sun exposure, such as fine lines and wrinkle, uneven skin tone and texture. Peels also address tone unevenness that can be caused by acne scarring or pigment changes. We offer a wide range of different strength chemical peels.

Clinical Facials

Our clinical facials are customized to treat your specific skin care issues. This nourishing treatment consists of cleansing, exfoliation, massage, masque application, and moisturizing using medical-grade products. We recommend using at-home skincare products to maintain the results for a longer period of time.

Aesthetician Services FAQs

What skin concerns can an aesthetician address?

Aesthetician services at Roseville Facial Plastic Surgery can resolve various issues, including:

  • Aging: Fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity
  • Skin texture: Roughness, uneven tone, and enlarged pores
  • Hyperpigmentation: Sunspots, age spots, and melasma
  • Acne and scarring: Active breakouts and residual acne scars
  • Dehydration: Dry, flaky skin

Treatments like chemical peels, microneedling, and HydraFacial MD® rejuvenate your complexion for a healthy glow.

How do I know which treatment to choose?

Your experience begins with a personalized consultation. During this session, Master Aesthetician Jennifer Crandall-Miller will assess your skin type, discuss your concerns, and recommend solutions that align with your goals. She’ll consider factors like your skin sensitivity, desired outcomes, and previous procedures you’ve undergone.

Can I combine aesthetician services with surgical procedures?

Aesthetician services are an excellent complement to plastic and reconstructive surgery. Pre-surgical treatments can prepare your skin, enhancing surgical outcomes, while post-surgical services can aid in recovery and maintain results. For instance, microneedling can improve your skin’s texture, while facials can promote healing and hydration.

Is there any downtime after visiting an aesthetician?

Downtime varies.

  • HydraFacial MD®: No recovery; you can resume your usual activities immediately afterward.
  • Chemical peels: Mild redness and peeling may occur for a few days after a light peel. Deep peels require a longer healing period to allow the swelling and sensitivity to resolve.
  • SkinPen® microneedling: Possible redness and sensitivity for 24 to 48 hours.

Jennifer will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and results.

Are these treatments suitable for all skin types?

Many services we offer, such as the VI Peel Advanced, are safe and effective for all skin types, including sensitive and darker skin. A thorough assessment during your consultation will determine the most suitable treatments for your specific skin type and concerns.

How often should I schedule aesthetician appointments?

The ideal frequency depends on your unique concerns and goals.

  • Facials: Every four to six weeks to maintain skin health.
  • Chemical peels: You can get a light peel every four to eight weeks, depending on your skin’s response. Deeper peels require a longer recovery due to their intensity. We do not typically endorse getting a deep chemical peel more than once a year.
  • Microneedling: Every four to six weeks, with a series of three to six sessions recommended for optimal results.

Jennifer will work with you to develop a customized plan tailored to your needs.

What products do you suggest for my at-home skincare regimen?

Roseville Facial Plastic Surgery offers a selection of medical-grade skincare products to complement in-office treatments. These products address various concerns, such as aging, acne, and hyperpigmentation. During your consultation, you can ask Jennifer to recommend products suited to your skin type and goals.

Is there an age requirement for aesthetician services?

While many treatments are suitable for adults of all ages, some are more appropriate for younger people dealing with specific concerns like acne. A consultation will guide you to the most suitable solutions based on your age, skin condition, and desired outcomes.

Is it normal to experience redness or sensitivity after an appointment?

Yes, mild redness or sensitivity is a typical side effect of many aesthetic treatments, particularly microneedling or chemical peels. These symptoms typically resolve within a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the procedure.
