While Sculptra® is injected into a deeper layer of skin than some other dermal fillers, the needle is very small, and the formula includes Lidocaine to reduce discomfort. A topical anesthetic is also applied about a half hour before your injections.

What is Recovery Like After Sculptra® Injections?

While no recovery period is needed after Sculptra® injections, you might have some minor swelling and bruising for a few days. Ice packs are used immediately after the treatment and are helpful for the first 24 hours to minimize any bruising and swelling. Makeup can be used to hide any discoloration.

After injection, we recommend the “5-5-5” regimen. That means massaging the parts of the face where the Sculptra® was injected for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days. This helps optimize the distribution of the material.

There will be some improvement in facial volume immediately after the injections due to the amount of Sculptra® injected. This will dissipate over the following day or two. The long-term improvement will begin over the next 4-6 weeks. The typical patient has three sessions of injections usually spaced about six weeks apart.

Of course, you can contact us at any time in between your Sculptra® injections with any questions or concerns.
